Cannabis Analytics Part 1: Non-Chromatographic Methods and Proficiency Testing

Non-chromatographic cannabis analytical methods are critical for ensuring the safety of cannabis products. Methodologies and new technologies presented in this session will include but are not limited to microbiological and metals testing. Proficiency testing is important for elevating the performance of the cannabis analytical industry in terms of the quality data generation. Proficiency testing and inter-laboratory comparison data from The Emerald Test will be presented during this session.

3:30 – 5:00

Poster Session

A dedicated poster session has been added to the 2018 conference. Presenters will be standing with their posters during this time to explain conclusive research and answer questions.

Regulatory Issues and Observational Study Data

In the absence of federal oversight, regulation of cannabis for medicinal and recreational purposes falls to individual states. Regulations influence not only consumer safety and product quality, but also the extent and quality of clinical research focused on cannabis. Emphasis will be placed on regulation’s effects on consumer safety and laboratory data quality. This session will also include content describing new clinical development paradigms that will shed light on how medical cannabis product development may be advanced in the context of botanical product complexity.

Cannabis Analytics Part II – Chromatographic Methods

Gas chromatography and liquid chromatography using mass spectrometry and other detectors are the foundational tools for determining the most important compounds in cannabis, including cannabinoids, pesticides, and terpenes. While the techniques themselves are relatively mature, because of the many difficult matrices presented by cannabis and cannabis product extracts, enabling developments are still occurring. This session will highlight advances in chromatographic methods for analysis of cannabis.
