Matthew Ward is a marijuana laboratory auditor for the Colorado Department of Health and Environment (CDPHE), Laboratory Services Division, Marijuana Laboratory Inspection Program. Matthew holds a B.A. and M.A. in History and earned his B.S. in Biology at Metropolitan State University. Matthew is primarily responsible for the assessment of microbial methodologies employed by cannabis testing laboratories.
The Marijuana Laboratory Inspection Program is a unit within the Colorado Marijuana Laboratory Sciences Program at the CDPHE. The Inspection Program’s primary function is the assessment of retail and medical marijuana laboratory suitability for certification by the Colorado Department of Revenue Marijuana Enforcement Division. The program ensures laboratories employ appropriate analytical methodology, validate methodology to a suitable degree, and operate within appropriate quality management systems. The program also provides scientific guidance for the development of state marijuana policies and regulations.
